Report: MLB to modify uniforms after complaints

In the wake of player and fan complaints about the new Nike uniforms MLB introduced this season, the league plans to restore larger lettering, correct mismatched gray tops and bottoms, fix see-through pants, and find a solution to jerseys collecting too much sweat, according to a memo sent to the MLBPA that was obtained by Jeff Passan of ESPN.

The modifications will reportedly be in place by the beginning of the 2025 campaign at the latest.

The players' union blamed Nike's new Vapor Premier uniform for incorporating unnecessary updates and said it wasn't a problem with manufacturer Fanatics.

"This has been entirely a Nike issue," the memo stated. "At its core, what has happened here is that Nike was innovating something that didn't need to be innovated."

Nike took over as MLB's official uniform supplier after inking a 10-year, $1-billion deal in 2019.
