The Texas Rangers placed right-hander Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day injured list with a right groin strain, the team announced Friday.
Eovaldi exited his Thursday start against the Washington Nationals with right groin tightness and was sent for evaluation after the game.
The 34-year-old has pitched well for the Rangers this season, authoring a 2.61 ERA and 9.6 K/9 in seven starts spanning 41 1/3 innings.
Eovaldi is the latest Rangers starter to land on the IL, joining Max Scherzer, Jacob deGrom, Tyler Mahle, and Cody Bradford.
The Rangers recalled right-hander Yerry Rodríguez from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.
